About this place

Added by Tiffany Nguyen

Take a short walk to the viewing area and bottom of this lesser-known waterfall.

Crescent Falls may not be as well-known as some of the other attractions found in Alberta, but this waterfall is easily one of the most impressive. Crescent Falls is very easily accessible and can be found off Hwy 11, the David Thompson Highway. From the parking lot, you’ll find a well-marked trail leading to the viewing platform overlooking the upper waterfall. Watching the fall’s thunderous descent is quite the sight to behold. Be very cautious if you plan to get a closer look at the falls because the ground can be very slippery.

If you want to see the falls from below you'll also want to take extra caution. Follow the trail down from the viewing area and you’ll reach a steep descent to get to the bottom of the upper falls. It's a short walk, but it can be muddy and slippery. There’s usually a rope present to aid with your descent down the hill. Once at the bottom, take in the epic view of the upper falls flowing down into the equally impressive second falls. To view both waterfalls, you’ll have to do a bit of scrambling to get to an unobstructed viewpoint in the canyon below.

What a sight
Beautiful, easy hike that allows you to just enjoy being outdoors, combined with an absolutely gorgeous waterfall to picnic at. Can’t ask for anything ...

Great hidden gem!
Very nice campground. Reasonable prices, and great views all around.
