Obed Lake Provincial Park is located only 34 km north of Hinton on Highway 16. The park protects several wetlands and lakes in the lower foothills of Alberta. The largest lake, Obed Lake, provides lots of recreational opportunities including canoeing, swimming, fishing, camping, and wildlife viewing.
Obed Lake is situated in a beautiful area that many nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate. With only seven campsites and four day-use areas, on busy long weekends, it does fill up rather quickly.
You can camp and photograph this lake during the spring, summer and fall as well as use the area as a use it as a home base for exploring the several nearby provincial parks, and Jasper National Park is only 60 km away. The lake seems to offer constant amazing sunsets as wildlife viewing opportunities.
If you are going to be canoeing, it is important to note that the land located on the north and northeastern shores is private property, and is not part of the Provincial Park. Access to this land is restricted.
