Hike to Raven Lake

To reach the trailhead travel east from Prince George on Highway 16. At 88 km turn right onto Hungary Creek Service Road. Travel 13 km on the main road and turn right at the junction (keep your eye out for the sign). From here there its only 3 km to the parking lot.

Right off the start the trail crosses a small creek then gains elevation in a series of switchbacks. This continues for 3.5 km then opens up into the alpine meadows where the trail levels off. Here the trail descends for 1 km before coming upon the cabin overlooking the lake.

The site has an old school A-frame, wood shed, bear cache and multiple tent pads. The cabin has a cast iron wood stove as well as an area where a group can prepare food and break out the cards. The cabin has 2 levels that can sleep at least 6 people comfortably. Don't just count on sleeping in the cabin, though - it is very popular, so bring a tent as back up. At one time the lake was stocked with Rainbow so make sure you bring your fishing rod!

From the cabin site one can hike up to the ridge and hit all three peaks surrounding the lake. It is also possible to continue over to the other 2 cabins in the park via the Grizzly Den Trail.
