Backpack to Clague Cabin

From the Kitimat Service Centre head north along Enterprise Avenue until you reach the Wedeene Mainline Forestry Road. Continue north along the mainline for approximately 1 km. Turn left and follow the rough road for approximately 2 km. to the trailhead. Trail is gated approx 0.5 km from trailhead in summer months to restrict motorized access.

This is a challenging hike because it pretty much goes straight uphill the entire time. But the trail is well maintained and there is no technical climbing. 

The first 2 km of trail switchbacks up an old mining road, flattens out briefly, and climbs again briefly. It then levels out into a series of small marcshes and stunted timber. At this point the old mining road shows its age and fades away. As you keep going it will intersect with an ATV trail coming in from Bowbyes Lake to the north. Follow the maze of ATV tracks for approzimately 500 m to the point where these trails seperate. At the junction there will be a large sign saying "cabin" pointing to the left. Follow along this trail south for approzimetly 1.5 km to the Clague Cabin. 

The cabin is first come, first serve, and technically sleeps 4, but there is plenty of floorspace for others. It has small sleeping pads, a propane stovetop, and large fireplace. It is run by the Kitimat Snowmobile club and they only ask you sign the registration book and leave the cabin in a clean state.
