About this place

Added by Shayne River

The Dilly Dally Loop has a variety of landscapes and stunning views, but and offers a challenge for even experienced hikers.

This hike begins near the parking lot of Buntzen Lake. The trailhead will read "Halvor Lunden Trail,” named after the man who made it. This part of the trail is well marked, however as you continue along the loop it gets less and less worn, making things more difficult, but also more natural.

The trail winds steeply up the side of the mountain; follow this trail for several hours. There are a couple lookouts along the way, and many small lakes (not the best swimming). Eventually you will reach the top of Mount Beautiful (see my other adventures) - enjoy the view!

Continue along the Halvor Lunden Trail towards Dilly Dally Peak by going straight at the Swan Falls Junction (or begin your descent down to the parking lot via Swan Falls). You will soon reach the peak after hiking some rolling hills. Set up camp and enjoy the panorama, or begin your descent down the most northern part of this loop if you are doing a very long day hike. To do this entire loop in one day would be very challenging as it is a strenuous climb, but it is definitely possible, especially without having to carry so much camping gear!
