Can you imagine a tree that's taller than a football field's length? Or over 1,400 years old? You can trees like that in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve.
The Parson Jones Tree is the tallest tree in the reserve, measuring more than 310 feet (94 m) in height. This is longer than the length of a football field!
Named after a lumberman who chose to preserve this portion of the park in the 1870s, the Colonel Armstrong Tree is the oldest tree in the grove, estimated to be over 1400 years old.
I think one of the best things about this place is how amazingly green every thing is. Your steps are muffled by a thick layer of moss, and the branches are swathed in vines. It's stunningly beautiful! I highly recommend a visit here, if you're in the area!
