Lady Bird Johnson Grove in Redwood NP

This hike starts in the parking lot of the Lady Bird Johnson Grove Picnic Area. As one of the more popular hikes in Redwood National Park, it is a good idea to get there early to secure parking and miss the crowds. 

To get to the parking lot from the Kuchel Visitor Center, travel north on Highway 101 from the center and turn on Bald Hills Rd just passed the town of Orick. After a few miles, you will drive under a footbridge. The parking lot is immediately after this bridge. 

After taking the bridge across Bald Hills Rd, you will find yourself on the first part of the trail. The trail will gradually descend through a lush forest scattered with a few large trees. After about 0.3 miles, you will reach an intersection where the loop portion of the trail begins. The loop is generally where the biggest trees are located. The trail continues for another 0.3 miles until its intersection with the Berry Glen Trail which leads back down to the 101. The Grove trail then meanders back up through the grove for another 0.5 miles. At this point you should be at the first intersection and its only a short jaunt back to your car.
