Nestled in "suburbia" there is a somewhat easy, relaxing hike that takes you along chaparral to a beautiful lake in relative obscurity.
This hike will be about going from the Bellview Trailhead to Dove Lake and back. Note that once you get to Dove Lake there are numerous offshoots that can take you in different directions (you can follow the road into the Dove Canyon housing community, take a paved road back to the Bellview parking lot, loop around the lake, etc.).
Once you park, the trailhead is easy to find, and the path to the lake is totally straightforward. Dogs are permitted on leash and this is a great hike for the whole family. You will see numerous chaparral flora/ fauna, birds, lizards, snakes, and the like. After about a mile the trail will go downhill towards the lake with some loose gravel, so be prepared and watch your step. Follow the same way out as you did in, or if you decide to follow some of the offshoots, make sure you know how to get back to the trail and your car.
