Del Rio Woods is a day-use park along the Russian River near Healdsburg, California. The best months to visit the park if you're planning to swim are April to July.
During the summer months, the water level in the river lowers, making the speed of the river slower -- typically Class 1. This makes for a family-friendly environment where you can bring floats or simply hang out on the water's edge and relax.
A good float option is to launch from Del Rio Woods and float 3.5 miles to Veterans Memorial Beach. If you choose to do this, make sure you have a shuttle car parked at both locations so you can easily get back to your starting point.
Supplies:
Russian River Adventures provides shuttle rides and rents inflatable kayaks if you don't want to bring your own floats. For snacks at the river, consider stopping by Quail and Condor for delicious pastries or Troubadour for a sandwich.
Hours:
The park is open from sunrise to sunset.
Fees:
There is a fee to park in the parking lot (~$7 USD) or display your Sonoma County park pass.
