Coronado Central Beach in San Diego is a 1.5-mile-long, wide sandy beach set against the backdrop of the iconic Hotel del Coronado. It’s popular for swimming, surfing, sunbathing, and beachcombing. The flat terrain is ideal for skimboarding and walking, attracting families who often spend the entire day enjoying the beach - toting umbrellas, towels, and picnic coolers.
The beach runs parallel to Ocean Boulevard, which offers free parking. Facilities include restrooms and showers, as well as fire rings. The tidepools in front of the Hotel del Coronado are also fun to explore. The Coronado Dog Beach is located at the northern end of this beach, providing a space for pets. Beach-accessible wheelchairs are available free of charge at the Central Beach Lifeguard Tower.
Lifeguards are on duty from 9 am to dusk.
