About this place

Added by Outbound

Nestled at the southwestern edge of Silverwood Lake lies Cleghorn Beach and Day Use Area, a perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon. This family-friendly beach boasts lifeguards on duty during the summer months and offers reservable picnic shelters for your convenience. Unlike other parts of the lake, the water near the sandy beach is free from power boats, ensuring a calmer swimming experience.

Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, where Cleghorn Day Use Area is located, offers an array of amenities. From ample parking and multiple boat launches to 13 miles of scenic nature trails and group campgrounds, there's something for everyone. Keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that calls this area home, including aquatic birds like great blue herons, as well as mammals like ringtails and wood rats. Camping overnight? You might even spot nocturnal creatures like coyotes and grey foxes.

The Pacific Crest Trail passes through Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area, providing opportunities for encounters with thru-hikers trekking from Canada to Mexico. And if you're up for exploring beyond the beach, nearby attractions like Silverwood Lake Swim Beach at Sawpit Beach, and Aztec Falls provide additional adventure opportunities.

DOGS:

Please note that dogs are allowed in campgrounds, picnic areas, parking lots, and on boats. They are NOT permitted on the beach or in the water (source: Parks.CA.Gov).
