So, when I had the opportunity to make the two and a half hour journey east from Marina Del Ray to Joshua Tree National Park...it was one I couldn't pass up. I didn't make it in time for sunrise, but it was one of the most rewarding days I can remember.
I met a sojourning Australian making his way from British Columbia on the “cool bus,” shared a mountain top with a bighorn sheep, brushed up on my bouldering techniques and let the utter stillness of the Mojave Desert provide perspective unlike any other.
My lack of patience provided the only regret as I left the park before sunset, racing towards the perfect desert shot that was never to be.
