If you are a fan of longboarding, but do not feel comfortable with steep descents, you will love this trip. The Ischlerbahnstrasse is known by local people and provides you a 10km paved road that goes slightly downhill and brings you right back into the heart of Salzburg.
To get to the start of the track you have two choices:
Once you are at the start (check the pin on the map for the exact location), you will need to push for the first 500-800m. Afterwards the decline starts and you will be able to roll smoothly back to Salzburg. The track will go through forest (attention, it might be slippery after rain) and large fields. There are benches along the way that invite for a pit stop.
Please be aware of your skills when attempting this track. It is suitable for beginners, but don’t underestimate the speed you can reach if you are not familiar with how to break.
Once back in Salzburg, you will come to a big intersection. Take the underground tunnel for pedestrians, continue along the canal and you will arrive at the big Salzach river.
If you want to extend your trip, you can take the same S-train S2 all the way to Seekirchen, push another 500m until the lake and enjoy a swim before pushing back to Eugendorf.
If you are an expert and you love speed, please be aware that the track crosses the street several times and you need to look out for cars. Also, there are some days when police is very active to check for speeding longboarders ;)
