Hiking to the top of Mt Oberon

Mount Oberon is located in Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria, Australia. In my opinion it's a must hike when visiting the area. Considering Australia is rather flat, climbing to the top of this mountain is highly rewarding, with one of the best views in Victoria. I recommend doing this hike for either sunset or sunrise ( I did both, and both were worth the climb). 

The trek starts at Telegraph Saddle Carpark -39.03261577427795, 146.35564314535014 , and makes a steady incline as it weaves up the mountain. Although Mt Oberon is only 558m high, the climb is steady, so allow at least an hour going up. First you go through many zig-zags on a gravel road. After you are done with the many switchbacks, you get out of the forest into more exposed rocky area. The wind near the top can be very strong, so bring extra layer. As you near the peak, get ready for steep climb up steps leading you to the rocky summit. Once at the top there is plenty of space for best viewing spot, where you can enjoy a 360-degree panorama of Wilsons Promontory-  its pristine coastline, beautiful beaches, and many lush gullies.
