3 Amazing Boating + Hiking Adventures in Lake Powell

Lake Powell is an amazing destination for any trip. Whether you have a weekend, a single night, or even a couple of weeks, the only disappointing part about Lake Powell will be when you have to leave. With so many sights to be seen, how do you choose the best ones? Here is a list of my top three boating and hiking adventures at Lake Powell. 

1. Boat-In Hike to Rainbow Bridge

This is a must see if you visit Lake Powell. First things first, rent your boat from either Wahweap or Bullfrog Marina rentals. It is about a two hour boat ride from either marina, but this is a place you will not regret going to. Once you reach the dock, you can throw on your hiking shoes and hike just a mere 1.5 miles round trip to see the Rainbow Bridge. This is one of the largest natural bridges in the world, and a site that you should not miss!

2. Explore Lake Powell's Clear Creek Canyon by Powerboat

This is a great adventure for the thrill seekers out there. You'll tie off your boat as far back in the canyon as you can get, and then begin walking back into the canyon. You'll be climbing ropes and walking through small pools of water. You can go quite a ways back in the canyon, depending on how comfortable you are climbing ropes. The views in this canyon are nothing short of spectacular.

3. Kayak or SUP Lost Eden Canyon in Lake Powell

Lost Eden Canyon is a no-wake zone for boats, so the water generally stays pretty calm. This makes it a great place to kayak or SUP. Paddle down the many arms of this canyon and eventually you will reach the back, where you can ditch your kayak or SUP and continue hiking back into the canyon. Pick up rental SUPs or kayaks from the marina before you head out.
