Exploring the United Kingdom's Lake District

Coming from the South East of England this is quite a drive (5/6 hours) but it's mainly on the motorway so not a difficult one! There is plenty of parking around in general but be prepared to pay for most of it, there isn't much in the way of places to quickly pull over for a photo. Most of the carparks won't cost more than £5 to park and nearly everything is free to get to afterwards. There is lots to see if you are interested in landscapes and it certainly offers some of the best in the UK. Be prepared for some fairly difficult treks to get up some of the mountains, they are steep and the wind gets very strong at the top so ensure you have suitable clothes to keep you warm! Some places are only a short walk away from the car park however like Buttermere and most of the lakes. Be prepared for the weather to change quickly so always check the forecasts and just be aware that lots of areas don't have much in the way of signal.

- Backpack
- Camera/drone
- Good hiking boots and suitable clothing (some areas get very boggy)
- Water and snacks
- Torch
