Hike the Seven Hollows Trail at Petit Jean SP

Start the trail at the marked Seven Hollows Trailhead just off of Petit Jean Mountain Road- there's a small parking lot and signage board. The path is dog-friendly, with lots of springtime stream crossings and swimming opportunities. 

You can choose to take the 4-mile loop trail in either direction from the trailhead, with an additional .25-mile jaunt about 2 miles in to see a beautiful waterfall and grotto - a great snack and swim spot in any season. I would recommend starting to the left, to end at the largest grotto. 

Along the way, you'll be surrounded by rock formations which are great for climbing, scrambling, or bouldering.  Check out the twenty-plus foot high natural bridge about a mile in. The terrain is gentle and rolling, alternating between higher rock outcroppings with views of the surrounding forest and meandering paths through the hollows. You follow a series of creeks and streams throughout the whole route, alternating between deciduous  forest and southern pine. The first waterfall is about 1.5 miles in. 

The sign at the trailhead says this route takes 4 hours - in reality, it's more like 2, with stops for photos. Swimming in the grottos and swimming holes is welcome in the summertime.
