About this place

Added by Mike Fennell

Discover the beauty of Lake Ouachita and it's tranquil forest environment with this 4 mile loop trail that makes its way along the perimeter of a gorgeous peninsula.

Located within the Lake Ouachita State Park, the Caddo Bend Trail is an wonderful 2-3 hour hike. Although promenently covered by shade the entire 4 miles, the Ouachita Lake area can be very hot in the summer and the trail should be done in the morning or late afternoon. Either way, I nice dip in the refreshing lake after your hike with cool you right off!

The State Park is located off Mountain Pine Rd (AR-227), about 15 minutes north of the closest town of Mountain Pine. The trailhead is on Crawdad Island road, about 300 feet west from the Mountain Pine Rd junction where the Visitor Center is located.

The hike is a 4 mile loop that makes its way along the perimeter of a peninsula of Lake Ouachita. The trail will go all the way down to the water, and never get more than 300 feet away from the water. The trail goes up and down at times, but the total elevation difference is no more than 150 feet. The path is very clear cut and easy to follow. There are half-mile markers throughout the trail to keep you on course.

Super scenic
Definitely worth the drive. Just over half a mile in there’s an off shoot to a small beach.
