Lost Valley Trail is an easily accessible hiking trail with a picnic pavilion and bathrooms. The trail is well-maintained and leads to stunning waterfalls.
This is a beautiful trail that is easily accessible and only a short 3 mile hike.
Start at the trailhead on the north end of the parking area. There is a map and some details about the main features of the trail.
The first main feature that you come to on the trail is a beautiful bluff with a cascading waterfall that has carved through it. If you don't mind getting your shoes wet, then you can hike into the cave and watch the water carve through the limestone. Be careful if you decide to go inside because the rock can be slippery.
As you continue on the trail you come to the second feature of the trail. This is a feature that is often overlooked because the main attraction of the trail is very close by. This feature is an enormous bluff overhang that has been carved out over time by the creek. Take time to walk up into the cavern and take a look at the sheer size of the rock around you. Before you move onto the main feature of the trail be sure to look back in the cavern because that tiny dot you're looking at is actually a person! Yes, it is that big!
Just to the left of the beautiful rock overhang is the main attraction of the trail. This is the 60 foot Eden Falls waterfall. It has the best flow during the spring after some good rainfall. This is a very photogenic waterfall for those with both camera phones and DSLR cameras. Take a moment to sit back on some of the large boulders in the area and enjoy the sights and the sound of the falling water.
If you continue along you will come to a cave which marks the end of the trial. However, the trail doesn't actually stop here. If you're looking to extend your adventure a bit more then you can go in and explore the cave. The cave is a little bit of a tight squeeze but luckily isn't very deep. The main reason to check out the cave is the surprise that awaits you at the end. That surprise is a great waterfall inside the cave! Be sure that you bring a flashlight so that you can enjoy this unique waterfall.
Once you finish at the cave the trail simply doubles back from the way you came. Stop and enjoy the beautiful waterfalls on your way back to the parking area.
