The serenity and beauty of Mount Nebo State Park Campground makes it a MUST in the Arkansas State Park's system.
Mount Nebo State Park is just 12 miles southwest of Russellville, AR, home of Arkansas Tech University. With its proximity to the university and other large cities, it makes visiting Mount Nebo an easy trip. The last few miles on Country Road 155 takes you through switch backs up the mountain, and has a 24ft trailer haul limitation due to its very sharp turns. Keep in mind the elevation gain to the top of the mountain is around 800ft from the base, so be prepared for a mid-high temp drop at the top.
The campground has 24 sites Class B ($20 per night), and 10 walk-in sites ($12 per night) that can be accessed through The Bench Trail. There are also 15 fully furnished cabins available for rent. Cabin pricing and more information can be found here. The campsite area has a full bathroom with showers, while each individual site has its own picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Sites 14-17 are the most popular as they are on the edge of the campground and have the best views of the Arkansas River Valley.
Some of the points of interests around the mountain include: scenic points to view both the sunrise and sunset, 10+ miles of hiking trails, hang gliding area, playground, basketball courts, waterfalls and tons of wildlife freely roaming the grounds. A highly recommend trail to hike is the Rim Trail, as it encircles the mountain peak allowing 360º views of the entire surrounding area.
