Baldwin Trail Loop

Enjoy the beautiful Baldwin Trail Loop in red rock country as you take in the majestic views of Cathedral Rock!

As with most areas in Sedona, you will need to have purchased a Red Rock Pass to park at the trailhead, which is located just south of Verde Valley Road. The trailhead, starting at an elevation of 3,950 feet, is well marked and the trail is defined. You have an option to either hike clockwise or counterclockwise, my personal recommendation is counterclockwise as it offers you the most dynamic views of Cathedral Rock.

You will make an initial ascent up the trail has you hug the mountain to your left. At about 0.4 miles, the world-famous Cathedral Rock will start to reveal itself upon the horizon. The diversity of this trail soon becomes evident as you leave the red dirt trail and enter into cool pine washes. 

Approximately at 1.5 miles, you will come across a wooden gate with well marked signs giving you the direction of Baldwin Trail. Flanked by large sycamore trees, you will want to listen for the sounds of Oak Creek flowing which is just a short distance to your right. The trail begins to opens up and resembles an old forrest road. Continue on the route which will eventually take you back to the trail head parking. 

Final Tips:

• Dog Friendly, must be leashed
• It can be hot in the summer, bring plenty of water
• Earlier the better, this is a populated trail during high season
• Sneak off to take a dip in Oak Creek
