Timp Point

Timp Point on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon lies just on the boundary of the National Park and within the Kaibab National Forest, well away from the (already smaller) crowds of the North Rim. Even in the heart of summer often you'll have a campsite on the rim all to yourself, with easy access to the Rainbow Ridge trails and endless overlooks of the Canyon.

Getting there is as straightforward as taking State Route 67 towards the North Rim, but then going right on Forest Roads 22, 270, 222, 206 and 271 for a total of 16 miles point to point. Get a map, obviously. 

If you stay on the main roads listed above they are passable by passenger car, though in winter the North Rim closes in general and the roads are not maintained though the area is popular with snowmobilers and cross-country skiers. 

There are no facilities are amenities. Note that if you experience car trouble you are 16 miles to pavement.
