Solitude and easy access to the Santa Catalina Mountains just minutes from Tucson.
Molino Basin Campground is the only campground of the Catalina District of the Forest Service to be open year round due to its lower elevation at only 4500'. Its position along the Mount Lemmon Highway makes Molino Basin a perfect basecamp for further adventures in the Santa Catalina Mountains, and the Arizona Trail passes right through the Basin along Molino Creek which flows strongly in the Spring due to snowmelt.
There are toilets but no water, and campsites are $10 per day and no vehicles over 22'.
To get there take the Catalina Highway off Tanque Verde Road in Tucson until it turns into Mount Lemmon Highway. Drive almost 10 miles to the campground and turn left.
