About this place

Added by Josh Hollandsworth

One of the many excellent spots in Anchorage to watch a sunset. If you're lucky, you will spot a Beluga whale!

If you are visiting Anchorage, and you don't have time to get away from the city, the Point Woronzof Park offers some excellent views of Mt. Susitna, the Cook Inlet, and the Anchorage skyline in the distance. The park is located just outside the north end of the Ted Stevens airport. Not only can you watch an amazing sunset, but you can also watch the massive FedEx and UPS planes soar in overhead!

In addition to the excellent views, there is a decent amount of wildlife in this region. Keep your eyes peeled for moose, bald eagles, and depending on the time of year, you may even see a Beluga whale swimming in the inlet!

The park has a small parking lot, but many choose to park alongside the road at the overlook just up the hill and walk down to the rocky beach area. Both the beach and the point overlook are only a short walk from the main parking lot, so it doesn't really matter where you park. Be sure to bring your camera!

Such a beautiful view, but if you don’t like loud noises I wouldn’t recommend, lost of planes fly over and it can be pretty loud.
