Hike up to the peak of Glassy Mountain in Rabun County, Georgia for breathtaking views that would not be expected from a small town in Georgia. This hike has a great view at the top and is open on the peak -- perfect for picnics and relaxing.
In order to find this hidden gem, you'll have to drive quite a ways up the mountain first, otherwise it is a very steep incline. There will be limited parking at the gate that stops you from driving the whole way up. You will turn onto a road called "Glassy Mountain Rd" and that will be the road you drive up.
Once you have parked, you will follow the gravel road up to the peak of Glassy Mountain, where you can relax and enjoy the views from the top. There is also a fire tower at the top and you're able to climb up the stairs to get an even better view.
It's usually never busy in any season and it offers a different view for every season, as well.
