Discover the natural beauty of Southern California on the San Onofre Bluffs Trail Loop, a scenic hike located within San Onofre State Beach. This trail offers hikers breathtaking views of sandstone cliffs, access to secluded beaches, and opportunities to observe diverse coastal wildlife.

Hours of Operation

  • Open Daily: The trail is accessible year-round from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Permits & Fees

  • Day-Use Fee: A $15 per vehicle day-use fee is required. Annual California State Parks passes are also accepted.

Parking Information

  • Trail Access Points: There are six designated trails (Trail 1 through Trail 6) descending from the bluffs to the beach. Parking is available near each trailhead along the Old Pacific Highway.

Dog Policy

  • Leashed Dogs Permitted: Dogs are allowed on Trail 1 and Trail 6 only and must be on a leash no longer than six feet. Dogs are not permitted on the beach or other trails.

Restrictions & Safety Tips

  • Beach Access: Some sections of the beach may be impassable during high tides. It’s advisable to check tide schedules before your visit.

  • Trail Conditions: Erosion can affect trail stability. Stay on designated paths and heed any posted warnings.
