Spring wanderings in Sedona are truly a very special time. Your journey from Phoenix through vast stands of cactus, and as a green as you will ever see them hillsides, dotted with blankets of yellow flowering brittlebush - is a spectacular introduction to this blooming desert landscape.

Sedona is known for its epic surroundings dominated by red sandstone formations & towering bluffs.  Its geographic location and elevation at 4,500ft places it in Arizona's high desert, which means it has a milder climate to toasty Phoenix and much greener surroundings.

With a plethora of hikes amongst the spectacular landscape it can be hard to choose where to explore. We found the Devil's Bridge hike to be well worth the effort. Early mornings here mean cooler temperatures and if you're lucky, you might have the hike and the bridge to yourself.

Sunsets here are known to be spectacular and we weren't disappointed. One of the best locations (and relatively easy to access) is the Baby Bell summit hike, roughly 1.1 mile round trip with a basic scramble.  It's a relatively lesser known gem for sunset with 360 degree views of the rugged & beautiful landscape.

Watching the sun dip below the horizon in the company of a warm Spring breeze is simply sublime, you may even have this location to yourself, it's much less known than the very popular nearby Bell Rock Hike.

Dusk here can be staggeringly beautiful, especially with the greenery of spring vegetation forming amazing contrasts with the deep red rock formations & fiery skies.
